Bell Times : Task Force Being Formed

Recent sleep research indicates that adolescents’ normal sleep patterns and health may be supported by later school start times for high school and middle school students. Seattle Public Schools is forming a year-long task force to analyze a potential change in bell times throughout the district. Task force members will consist of Seattle Public Schools staff and community members including parent representatives. With school in full swing, we are still in need of volunteers to assist with some positions at school and to lend a hand with two of our biggest fundraisers – the Move-a-Thon and Auction. Current volunteer needs include: Recess and lunch monitors, nurse volunteer (no nursing experience necessary, basic first aid) and some room parents slots still available (please click sign up genius). Kindergarten Playground is Open!

We’re happy to report the Kindergarten playground that was damaged this Summer by fire has been replaced and is back open for our young kiddos to enjoy!  Thanks to the Seattle School District for their swiftness in getting the playground replaced.  It’s great to have more space for our younger students to play.  Image Courtesy West Seattle Blog

Schmitzville Carnival a HUGE Success!

After School Enrichment Program Begins September 29th!

We hope you’ll join us this Fall Session for the Schmitz Park After School Program, sponsored by the PTA.  Classes will begin the week of September 29 and we have some exciting new offerings along with the return of some old favorites.  Registration forms were emailed on Friday, September 12.  The deadline to register is 3:15 pm on Friday, September 19th.  Please bring forms to the office.  Registrations will be processed over the weekend and
Please join us on Thursday, October 16 at 6:30pm in the school cafeteria as we welcome new members and provide updates on the building of the new school, technology updates, and much more.  And remember, FREE child care is provided in the gym for Schmitz Park school age children.

Back-to-School Online Packets

Back-to-school digital packets. Everyone received a very small packet, Monday, 9/8/14, consisting of their student’s “data sheet” plus the purchase envelope for school pictures. ALL the other forms for the year have been turned into electronic forms. If you would prefer a hard copy of the forms to fill out instead, please let your child’s teacher know. We have hard-copy packets available in the main office. Please look carefully at the student data sheet and return any updates

Volunteer and Make a Difference

We are looking for a few volunteers to help us kick off our school year.  Volunteer needs include: Art Program Co-Chairs (2) Move-a-thon Co-Chairs for 2015/2016 (1) – the person will shadow this years Move-a-thon team Volunteers to lead kids to buses daily from 2:45-3:05 p.m. (1) Kindergarten lunch monitors 11-11:35 daily (2) Recess monitors Nurse office volunteers on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 9:30-1:40 p.m. Cohort leader (this position coordinates with all grade level
