We have started planning our annual auction!  We need volunteers for roles big and small.  Email auction@schmitzparkpta.org if you can help. We still need recess/lunch monitors, a Spirit Wear Co-chair and a few classes still need room parents – sign up here. The 2014 Move a Thon was a huge hit with kids eagerly running laps, an appearance by our school mascot, fun tunes, and popsicles for all!  A BIG THANKS to our awesome co-chairs Jodie Bennett, Kara Centioli,  Lorie Bennett and our amazing volunteers for putting this fantastic event together. Every kinder ran at least 8 laps (that’s a mile, so impressive!). Below are the top movers by class: Kindergarten – Chase S. – 22 laps 1st

The Move-a-Thon is THIS Friday, so hopefully kiddos are hard at work gathering pledges and limbering up for their big run. Boundary Implementation for 2015-2016

The Boundary Map Revisions approved by the Board in November 2013 were made to alleviate West Seattle’s elementary schools’ overcrowding as capacity became available with the construction of Genesee Hill and Arbor Heights. SPS plans to roll out the boundary changes in West Seattle and increase our student assignments for the 2015 school year yet the construction schedule at Genesee Hill has been delayed and the updated move-in date is September 2016. SCHMITZ PARK PTA NEEDS DELEGATES TO ATTEND THE LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY OCTOBER 24-25 IN VANCOUVER, WA The Legislative Assembly  is an annual 2-day event where all of Washington state’s PTAs determine our advocacy and legislative priorities.  To have a say on the issues that will impact our students and families, we would like to have a representative to cast our votes! The PTA has funds to cover the travel and assembly expenses. Art Wizards Camp on October 29th

Get your ghouls and goblins ready as we are offering a one day only Art Wizards early dismissal camp on Wednesday October 29th from 1-3pm.  Space is limited and registrations are processed as they come in, so get your forms in early! Help Us Support Gatewood Elementary

As you may have heard, Gatewood Elementary is facing an involuntary staff reduction of one of their first grade teachers due to lower than expected school-wide enrollment by 26 children across all cohorts. Since 1st grade has the lowest overall enrollment in the school it was decided by SPS to reduce the number of 1st grade classes and increase class size. The Gatewood teacher is being asked to transfer to Fairmount Park Elementary because that

First PTA General Meeting – October 16th

We will be holding our first PTA General Meeting of the 2014/2015 school year on Thursday, October 16 at 6:30pm in the cafeteria.  We have a crucial vote on the 2014/2015 budget that requires members to vote how money will get spent this school year. The Seattle App Academy will also provide a presentation of their new after school programs and how your children can get involved in robotics, engineering, and computer programming. Free Childcare
