As we gear up for classes we are looking for an assistant coach to work with Ms. Santana for basketball – this will allow us to accommodate more students!  If you are interested email enrichment@schmitzparkpta.org. , your child may attend basketball with you for free!

School Starts Thursday

Seattle Public Schools and Seattle Education Association have reached an agreement. School starts Thurs., Sept. 17. Teachers return Wednesday, Sept. 16. SEA executive board and representative assembly voted to suspend strike Tuesday evening. A full vote is expected on Sunday.

The strike continues and school will not start on Tuesday.
Our goal as parents is to support our schools and have students back in class to start the 2015-2016 school year. Only by SPS and SEA reaching an agreement can that occur and it cannot happen if SPS and SEA will not negotiate. The story from each side is different than the other, but the fact remains only those with the knowledge and authority to negotiate a resolution can get our students back to school.

Update: Schmitzville Carnival Postponed.

Unfortunately due to the strike, the carnival will need to be rescheduled.   New date TBD.

OUTDOOR MOVIE NIGHT IS CANCELLED Sorry we have to cancel tonight’s movie plans – it will be too cold out by the time the movie starts.      
Vicki Schmitz-Block welcomes the Schmitz Park Foxes into her home and shares lesson on her ancestors rich history as West Seattle Pioneers. The Schmitz Park Foxes travelled to the Totem Pole Tuesday evening to explore the Log House Museum operated by the Southwest Seattle Historical Society.  Word in the woods was that Schmitz Park Elementary students make an annual pilgrimage to the Birthplace of Seattle and the fury friends went to see for themselves what draws our community to the recently restored 111 year old building.
