In just a little over 6 months we will be dropping our kids off at a new school and adjusting to new routines.  Come hear from the Building Transition Team to find out what they have been up to and what they can share so far. Today, February 3, we had 40 parents and students in Olympia learning how to advocate more directly on behalf of our kids and fully funding education, among other WSPTA priorities. The day included a meetings with representative Eileen Cody, Joe Fitzgibbon and Senator Sharon Nelson. Thank you so much to everyone who took time out of their day to attend this event. Way to go 34th District & Region 6!  

January Volunteer of the Month is Tiea Hanson

Thank you to Tiea Hanson, mom to Bella & Zoe. This is her second time this school year winning the coveted parking space.  Tiea has worked 22.9 hours in January.  She is busy helping in numerous classrooms for the auction and has also volunteered 10.5 hours to recess. Thank you so much for your hard work this year Tiea! She is a huge asset to the  Auction Committee and enjoys gardening and anything creative in
Levies are essential tools in raising the funds necessary to run our public school system here in Seattle. We encourage our membership to educate themselves regarding how the upcoming Levy – BTA IV will impact your child’s school. Book 1 It’s time to raise the funds for our Cohort Auction Donations! The Cohort packages were a great success last year and brought in almost $11,000 at last year’s auction. This year we are doing the following packages: K & 1st – Great Wolf Lodge – we buy 3 $360 gift cards and Great Wolf Lodge donates gift certificates for 3 one night stays in a family suite. Congratulations to our Volunteer of the Month for December, Lori Sherick. She is mom to Samantha and Joe, 3rd graders.   “When I am not volunteering at Schmitz Park I Iike to golf, run, snowboard and go to Bakery Nouveau.” Lori Sherick For the short month of December, Lori worked 14.4 hours.  She worked in Ms Noreng/ Ms. Frazzini’s classroom as well as Ms. Well’s classroom.  She volunteered to assist with the Global Passport Challenge, for field
Congratulations to three of our Schmitz Park kids:  Boden, William and Whit, who went to Albuquerque last week for the national cross country championship! Coach Eric Linxweiler (a Schmitz Park parent) said: They ran in a driving rain, at 37 degrees. It was cold, but they did fantastic! Boden, William, and Whit ran their best races of the year. Thank you to Tiea Hanson, mom to Bella & Zoe. She is our volunteer of the month for November. She has logged 15.7 hours in the short month of November.  She has helped in the classroom, with the global passport group, and volunteered 7.1 hours as a recess monitor (thank you!!). She is a huge asset to the Spring Auction Committee and enjoys gardening and anything creative in her spare time. We appreciate her support
