As you know, teachers and staff are busy unpacking and getting things set up for the first day of school. We need some “attention to detail” oriented volunteers to help unpack and set up the new library (knowledge of the Dewey Decimal system helpful, but not compulsory if you are a quick learner). Each cohort will hold one back-to-school event on the new Genesee Hill campus in August. Please save the date, since the campus will remain closed except for for scheduled events! The Schmitz Park History Night, held on June 3rd, was a really nice event thanks to our community. It was great seeing current staff and families, the Schmitz family, and past staff, students and parents.  You can view pictures from the night at the Schmitz Park Elementary website.  Also, we have our Schmitz Park Keepsake Book available for $20, for order through the end of June.  Please email Fiona at history@schmitzparkpta.org to make arrangements.
A big thank you to all the golfers that participated in the 1st Annual “Fox Hole Classic”. It was a blast, nothing like having a golf course to yourself! Congratulations to Team Boyer: Tom Boyer, Tom Lazar, Larry Hudson and Geno Timmons. Who came home with the 1st place trophy! And congratulations to Tom Lazar with “Best Score – 76”! Genesee Hill’s walking school buses are a great way to get to school next year! A walking school bus is simply a group of students who walk to school under the supervision of one or more adults. Adults work together to form teams and take turns walking children in their area to school. This program encourages physical activity, helps students practice safe pedestrian skills, and gives students a chance to socialize before school begins each
We are excited to welcome the new board for our Genesee Hill School! A big thank you to our outgoing board members: president- Robert Kelly, legislative-Emily Giaquinta, communications-Cheri Carl and fundraising- Lorie Bennett for all the work they did on our PTA board this past year. It was a crazy ride with the teacher strike, teacher cuts, fully funding k-8 at the state level, bell times, after school care, moving schools and meeting our fundraising

Patricia London, a Schmitz Park parent, who also teaches an after school enrichment class on Life Skills & Etiquette, is working with some of all our teachers to roll out a cafeteria etiquette program.  We want to provide information about the program and share a copy of the Golden Rules (link – golden rules ), which she uses as part of her coaching.
