Calling all chess players! West Seattle Elementary will be hosting their first Chess Tournament on Saturday, 12/9 from 8 AM – 4 PM. This is a 5-round, state-qualifying tournament open to players in grades 1 through 6. Registration fee is $25 and the deadline to register is 12/8/17 (no refunds after 12/2; $5 refund fee). Registration for the Genesee Hill chapter of Girls on the Run (GOTR) opens this Monday, 12/4/17. GOTR is a nation-wide, after-school program that uses running to empower 3rd through 5th grade girls. Registrations are accepted until 2/16/18, however, there are only 15 spots on the team, so register early to reserve a spot! The program runs from 3/5 – 5/22, culminating with a 5K on 5/20/18.
