Calling all chess players! West Seattle Elementary will be hosting their first Chess Tournament on Saturday, 12/9 from 8 AM – 4 PM. This is a 5-round, state-qualifying tournament open to players in grades 1 through 6. Registration fee is $25 and the deadline to register is 12/8/17 (no refunds after 12/2; $5 refund fee). Registration for the Genesee Hill chapter of Girls on the Run (GOTR) opens this Monday, 12/4/17. GOTR is a nation-wide, after-school program that uses running to empower 3rd through 5th grade girls. Registrations are accepted until 2/16/18, however, there are only 15 spots on the team, so register early to reserve a spot! The program runs from 3/5 – 5/22, culminating with a 5K on 5/20/18. WINTER 2018 ENRICHMENT – Hot off the press – the Winter 2018 Enrichment Class Schedule is now available to view and download HERE! Please note that this is only a preliminary schedule and that some class days and fees may be subject to change so please check the blog for latest updates. Congratulations to Joe Jeannot, our September Volunteer of the Month. Joe joined the PTA Board in a new position of Events Chair and has worked tirelessly this first month of school to ensure the success of our school events. Joe has earned the highly coveted Volunteer of the Month Parking Space out front for the month of October. If you see him around the neighborhood, let him know how much we appreciate his hard work.
Genesee Hill recently showed the film Screenagers to our Genesee Hill community. Even though our students are not ‘Screenagers’ yet, we wanted to offer a starting point for navigating the use of tech in your homes, including everything from gaming to social media to general personal device use.
