It’s Disability History and Awareness Month

October is Disability History and Awareness Month, an annual event established to increase awareness, respect, and acceptance for people with disabilities and recognize the contributions disabled people have made to society.

One way to promote Disability History Month was established by a member of our own Genesee community. With the support of the Seattle Specials Education PTSA, PTA board member Leigh Ann Johnson helped create two virtual reading rooms. The rooms include links to videos, toolkits, and online activities—each with rich information.  You can explore a room designed for young children and another for teens and adults.

Whether you’re a parent, caregiver, teacher, or a student, you’ll find something of interest. Feel free to share the links in your networks and communities.
