| SPS is engaging a range of stakeholders to determine the full benefits and consequences of changing start and end times. A Bell Times Advisory Task Force with a wide-range of representatives has begun the process of studying the issue and gathering input. The committee will ultimately provide a recommendation to the Superintendent on whether to change school bell times or not. School schedules are interdependent on numerous systemwide factors involving transportation, before and after school childcare programs, staff contracts and family schedules. It should be noted there have also been two articles published in the last few weeks on the subject. Neither address the impact to elementary schools having a 7:50am start time should the Task Force conclude the only way to start secondary school later would be to flip elementary and high school bell times.
Candidates may enter an exam at any time. However, arrivals later than 30 minutes after the start of the exam will be reported to the Board of Examiners which has discretion to decide whether and how marks awarded in such circumstances are to be used.
